Love Nicos. I have been going here for years. The breakfast burritos are great and not dripping with grease. They're reasonably affordable and never lack flavor.

This place is probably one of the friendliest Taco Shops in town. The lady behind the counter made small talk with me instead of just taking my order and tossing me aside like most of the Taco Shops here in my hometown of San Diego. The cook did an amazing job in the back of the house, and clearly knew what he was doing. I ordered the Super Fries w/ Carne Asada meat, and it was a huge portion! The toppings included pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, and finely shredded cheddar cheese. The salsa comes in your standard varieties of red and green. What I liked was that the green salsa was not spicy, while the red salsa was indeed spicy. So, everyone can find a salsa that suits them. There is nothing worse than the only choice of salsa at a Taco Shop being super spicy. Overall, this is one of the better Mexican food taco joints in San Diego... and I've been to hundreds of Taco Shops here in my hometown of SD. The old school booths remind you of years past, while enjoying newer items on the menu. The reason why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because of the prices. Be prepared, because they are a little on the high side... However, the portion size, safety of the area, and friendliness of the workers makes it worth the extra few bucks!
